Warmth in October...

The calendar says October, the thermometer says: summer. The temp was in the upper 80s today in the Black Hills. Perfect day for a motorcycle ride. Instead of back roads, we rode into town for breakfast, then out Rimrock Highway. A turn south on Hwy 385 for a view of Lake Pactola...

The water level is down, but it IS October. We took the winding road down to the marina and boat ramp. The marina is closed, but there was plenty of activity at the ramp. We saw this interesting home-built boat ready to launch...

Boxy. Sitting on a flat bed trailer, so you know the bottom is pretty darn flat. Looks like limited visibility out the sides and back, but I would guess great livability inside. And fast build with all those flat surfaces.

It was a great day to be out and about, playing with "toys"... the guy in that boat, lots of other boats being towed, motorcycles everywhere, hot rods and antique cars. We stopped for ice cream and a walk around town in Hill City; quite a few of the shops were closed for the season, but the ones that were open had plenty of folks in them. Down the road to the turn-off for Mt. Rushmore, through the twisties, past the faces, down the steep, through Keystone, and off for some more twisties. A great motorcycling kinda day...

Back home, we switched modes of transportation and made a run for some building supplies... we have an idea for how to mount the kayaks in the trailer. We'll see.
