A quiet night...

NOT!

It's been a while since we've had any decent precipitation.  I put the cover on the boat when we got back from yesterday's outing - the weather weasels are predicting a week of thunderstorms in the area.  Now, it is likely that it won't be 24 hours of storms each day, but... they hit it right on with the prediction that we would get passing storms in our area last night.

Around 2:00, I heard the rumble of thunder in the distance, followed by a gentle rain.  Then, it erupted: the rain pounded and the lightning was so close there was no delay between the thunderclaps and the lightning flash.  Even with blinds down, each blast of lightning lit up our bedroom.  That lasted for about 45 minutes.  Lots of lightning.  Then, it passed.  For another half hour or so, while the rain continued.  Then, another round, much like the first.

Joan went outside between the cells and snugged up the sun screens on our deck.  I found Izzy quietly sitting in the middle of the house, away from any windows (smart cat); she didn't seem afraid, but I brought her into bed with us.  She snuggled up with Joan, and we all tried for more sleep.

I think we're all going to need a nap today.
