Getting short...

That's the term I use when time is getting short.  After this holiday weekend, we'll be looking for a good weather day to bring in the trailer from storage and get the boat out.  Then, the coach comes out and we'll close the house down before we hit the road.

So, each day out on the boat now may be the last for this season.  It was another warm, windy day here... the temps were in the upper 80s the wind around 20 mph, without much variation on the hourly forecast.  We headed out around 1:30, hoping to see some dolphins, but mainly looking forward to some time on the water.

Out the canal and heading towards the ship channel, we came across this bait shrimper...

That should cover any bird photos for the day, too.  ;-)  It wasn't long before we saw our first dolphin...

Then, a bunch...

And, swimming close by our boat...

There were a couple dolphin watch boats there, also enjoying the experience.  I was surprised that the water wasn't thick with boats.  But, it wasn't long before the other two boats left, and the dolphins were active...

Another whale watch boat came by, stayed for a few minutes, then moved on...

We started to move down the ship channel, and the dolphins moved out ahead of us...

More close encounters...

I love it when you can see that they are watching you, too!  We spent an hour or so enjoying their company, then turned to head for home.  One last "wave good-bye" - an enthusiastic tail slap...

If this turns out to be our last outing on the boat before we head out, it will be a great memory!
