Well, that's just super...

Super Bowl, of course.  I read a poll that stated over 50% of the US population doesn't care about the Super Bowl.  I have to admit that I am not big on watching sports on TV.  There are some things that are "events," that we will watch: the Olympics and the Super Bowl are examples.  But, the Super Bowl is a time we like to share with Steph and Dan.  We had lunch with them yesterday - Joan and Steph worked out the menu for today's game.

Snacking food and the watch for the "best commercial"... what's not to like?  Oh, and apparently there is some football, too.

Like Black Friday at Walmart...

Sunday morning and Joan needed to get some things from the store for our Super Bowl dining experience.  I let her off at the door at Fry's and had to circle the lot twice to find a parking space.  Yeah, it was that crowded.  It was a frenzy inside the store, as well: most people were playing nice, being cautious at the aisle intersections.  Of course, there were the oblivious people who parked their cart in the middle of an aisle, generally at a diagonal, to make sure no one could get by on either side while they spent time deciding which can of green beans looked the best.  They were a mild annoyance, but the really scary ones were those with "crazy eyes," looking like a cornered coyote.

Seriously, what did you expect coming to the grocery store on Super Bowl Sunday morning??  I listen to the music being played on their Muzak... and spent the next 40 minutes singing "Dancing in the Moonlight," by King Harvest.  Some people smile as they see you happily singing, others give you a wide berth.  Either way, less chance of getting "cornered."

With a full cart, I was impressed that Fry's had all their checkouts open; the lines weren't terribly long...

You could tell they were ready for this: they had workers stocking the shelves like crazy (you don't want a run on nacho chips today) and all the checkers and baggers were going at full speed.  This is their "Black Friday," and they were up for it!

Impressive.
