Happy Birthday!

Yesterday.  Yes, on Valentines Day.  We adopted Rufus on February 9th last year.  As I've mentioned before, the vet who first examined him thought he was two to three years old.  And, fully grown.  Well, we discovered he sure wasn't "fully grown," as he is now about 50% bigger and heavier than when we first got him.

We picked Valentines Day to be his birthday, because there is no way to know the actual date.  And we have decided he is at least a year younger than we first thought.  So, yesterday was his birthday... maybe 3rd, maybe 2nd.

Our vet in Port Isabel sent a birthday and Valentines e-mail to him.  Nice touch.  Joan got him a new scratch pad... yes, he "played with it" and laid on it.  The boy seems truly grateful... for each meal, for the hugs he gets, and for each new toy or bed.  And we are grateful to have him as a part of our family.
