Ice, Ice, baby...
People who haven't been in the desert think it is hot in the desert. And, it most certainly is, sometimes. Like from April to October. This time of year, you come to expect daytime highs around 70º and nighttime lows in the upper 40s. That hasn't been the case since we have been here this time... highs in the 50s and low 60s, nighttime lows in the 30s. Too chilly for us to want to spend time out scooting around.
Yes, I am candy-ass. Thanks for noticing. Last night, Joan tossed out some "old ice" (ice that gets freezer burned and doesn't taste good when placed in an adult beverage). This morning, some of that ice is still there...

BUT, the most important thing: it was one year ago today that Rufus came into our lives. The boy was smelly, his fur felt like straw... well, if you've read here for any time, you know. I continue to be amazed at how this boy has grown and blossomed, especially considering that the vet told us he was "full grown." When I look back at the photos of him, he was such a youngster. He has grown at least 50% in stature and weight. And, the glorious fur - who knew that was even a possibility?? And such a great personality!
It was a rescue situation. Who rescued who may still be in question... our hearts were broken from losing Izzy... this boy definitely needed a family who would care for him. The boy has a lot of love to give, and he shows it to us every day. It is fortunate that we found each other.
And Rufus now...

Another afternoon spent at Guitar Center. This time, Steph and Dan joined us. They wanted to see some guitars that would work for a young lady who will be taking the guitar class. I looked at what the young lady had, and it was not going to be functional for actually learning guitar. Also, another family member of the son-in-law variety is interested in learning to play guitar, too. They left Guitar Center with two very decent guitars. There is going to be some guitar learning happening!
