Come on, it's my day off...
We were out and about on kayaks on Jackson Lake today...
Paddling/pedaling into the back bays, we had the place pretty much to ourselves. We discussed going ashore for lunch, but decided to raft up and enjoy the meal while on the kayaks...
Truth be told, I continued to pedal while keeping Joan's kayak alongside; she got a break from paddling while she prepared lunch.
Dining while cruising along. After a while, we separated the kayaks and continued our trek. An absolutely beautiful day here in the Tetons - just what you want for a day off.
By early afternoon, the wind kicked up; we decided to head in. On the way back, we came across this...
That's a submerged kayak, with the guy holding on at the aft end. It's one of our rentals, and the guy decided to "go for a swim"... Joan said, "What were you thinking??" The water temp is still in the 50s.
His response: "I guess that wasn't smart, huh? It seemed like a good idea at the time." Famous last words. We got him to the nearest shore where he was able to dump the water out. I found out he was an employee at one of our properties and told him, "You can come back and check out a kayak another time. We're taking you in." He had signs of hypothermia - slow speech, not sure what day it was. We accompanied him back to the marina, got him ashore, and pulled our kayaks out. He was OK... embarrassed, but OK. We pulled the truck around, loaded up the kayaks, and headed for home.
