We said our good-byes tonight to Steph and Dan; we will be pulling out early tomorrow. I do my "crotchity old guy" routine, grumbling about spending time in the desert, but it is a true joy to get to see our little girl and the great guy she married on a regular basis. I wish we lived closer together, but with our wandering lifestyle, we probably see more of her this way.
I kinda thought that after sending her off to college a couple decades ago, these good-byes would get easier... but, they don't. They are both just good people, and we are very proud of them. We drove away from their house just a bit ago, and my heart aches... I miss them already.
Nope, it never gets easier.
