The Shack goes back...
We arranged for inside storage for the Love Shack. It is not close by, but that keeps her out of the salt air. We have tried a number of different storage situations, this looks to be the best so far. Well, the best would be a big ol' garage like Herb and Wilma or Brent and Dixie have, attached to the house. That isn't an option on our little island. We have tried outside storage, covered storage, and inside storage... this situation looks promising: ventilation, insulated walls and roof, concrete pad, electricity, and a 14' locking door.
Pulling in...
If you are thinking: "Is that going to fit?", yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The HitchHiker is 13'5" at its tallest point. 14' tall doors on rental storage aren't easy to come by around here. 14' doors are almost never a true 14' opening. Oh, the opening may be framed out at 14', but the doors we've dealt with always seem to dip down from the highest point... this door is no different. We knew it was going to be close...
That vent is the highest point, and it wasn't going to clear the door without some help. I didn't want to deflate the tires and didn't want to remove the vent cover. A long pole and some muscle...
Made it with almost an inch to spare - whew! The space in this unit is wider and deeper than we've had in the past. The door is 12' wide, with 16' width inside; and plenty of length for our HitchHiker.
We could almost fit the truck and fifth wheel in there. Almost.
She is put away for a month and a half or so. We had fun with her and will be looking forward to the next time out.

Glad you had the "muscle" available ;)
I offered to let her back it in while I held up the door. She does the heavy lifting, I'm just here as "arm candy." ;-)
