Too much free time?
Do you find hours in the day with nothing to do? Get a boat or an RV. If you want to stay really busy, get a boat AND an RV. There is always something that needs to be addressed on either of those traveling conveyances.
We are ready to put the 5th wheel back in storage for a while. Even though winter is a slight possibility here in the Tropical Tip - well, winter will arrive this month, but I'm talking about below freezing temps and all the nasty stuff that goes along with that - with all the water systems on the HitchHiker, you have to drain the lines, make sure the pump and water heater are free from water that might freeze. We only have to put the pink stuff (that's RV anti-freeze) into the drain traps, 'cause the HitchHiker has good low point drains to empty lines.
And, after being out for a bit in the RV, the front cap had a fresh coating of squished bugs. Fortunately, all the work put into waxing it before we left resulted in the bugs coming off before the skin on my fingers wore off. I swear, they should make automotive paint out of bug guts - that stuff sticks like epoxy. The Love Shack got a thorough scrubbing. I caulked around all the screws and corners where we replaced the slide seals. New battery cover vents to replace the ones that came apart while cleaning. She is ready to go... but, the only "going" will be back into storage for another month and a half.
We enjoyed being in the RV for a while. Little Izzy loves it because there is a lot of carpet in there - perfect for getting a grip with those powerful back legs... leaping and sharp 180º bootlegger turns are more fun for her in there compared to all the tile in the house.
The house is small. The HitchHiker is even smaller. The boat, smaller yet. you find out what you really need as the space shrinks. And then feel almost decadent when you move back to a bigger dwelling.
