Everything's coming up...

... lavender.

The "Lavender Festival" is this coming weekend.  There are signs saying so all around the island.  After getting laundry done today, we decided to take a ride along the west side of the island, have lunch at Madrona Grill at Roche Harbor, and make a stop at the lavender farm.

It is a breezy, sunny day.  Good day to not be out on a boat, with the wind predicted to be 15 to 25 in the Strait, again.  A fine day for some scooter riding, though...

It is kinda our "thing": we like to stop along the west side of the island and check out Haro Strait...

Seeing a whale watch boat moving down-island fast let us know that the whales were likely that direction.  So, no whales for us today, but the view was nice...

Scooting north...

As planned, we stopped in Roche for lunch.  Madrona Grill is a bit more upscale than the Lime Kiln Cafe, both have a nice view of the marina...

... with outside seating over-looking...

The food was fine, the deck at the restaurant was pretty protected from the breeze.

We topped off fuel tanks at the self-serve station at Roche, and headed for the lavender farm...

The store at the lavender farm was packed.  I found a place to sit, out of the way, while Joan shopped.  We stood in line to make our purchase and headed for home.

Some RV stuff to do: dump and flush the holding tanks, and adjust the metal wrap on the awning.  First time to use the snazzy collapsing ladder we bought at the Good Sam Rally last winter - I expected the awning wrap to be a beast to move, but a small tug is all it took.  Since I was up there, we lubed all the moving parts on the electric awning.

We started the motorhome engine and the generator (with a load on it) - we put Seafoam in the gas tank before heading to the island, but it is still good to run things once in a while.

The wind continued to build - we had to fold up all the patio furniture and lay it flat to keep it from blowing into the coach.

During all that, Izzy got to have some outside time, but I kept an eye on her... half expecting her to get airborne, too.

According to the hourly weather guesses, the wind is supposed to lay down any time now.
