Emerald Guitars is doing something interesting for 2017: each month there is a new custom series being offered, something selected by Alistair Hey (owner). Generally, a custom build will take 4 to 5 months. The Select Series offerings are models being built first, then offered for sale... great for someone who appreciates immediate gratification. It also creates a lot of buzz in the carbon fiber guitar world.
This February X20 model takes my breath away...
The guitar is carbon fiber construction, with a veneer on the top and headstock. This particular wood is louro preto... I had to look it up... similar to a Brazilian Rosewood, it is a close relative to Bocote wood.
All the weather/humidity resistant attributes of carbon fiber, with an exotic wood look. This is the first I have seen this veneer from Emerald. Striking!
