3 states and some mountains...
It wasn't a long driving day: we left Virginia, drove through a section of Tennessee, and are down for a few days in North Carolina.
Before leaving, Izzy was on alert for "intruders"...
Interstate pretty much all the way today...
The vines covering the trees, the bushes, and other vines are quite striking...
Rolling into Tennessee, there was no "state sign"?? We did stop at a Rest Area/Welcome Center...
Those mountains I mentioned in the title...
There was a sign as we came into North Carolina, but a truck got between us and the sign. So, there's this...
The Runaway Truck Ramp? If you go up those mountains, you have to come back down.
We were into the RV park before 2:00 (the "rule"). We saw a lot of RV as we rolled today... I think there is a NASCAR event at Bristol Motor Speedway this week. You may have heard something about an eclipse... this place isn't too far from the path of total coverage. I wasn't sure we'd be able to get a reservation here, but... no problem (we booked it just over a week ago). I think it is going to be seriously packed this weekend. But, we have an "interesting" pull-through site...
Pavement, some grassy area, full hookups, a picnic table, extensive cable. That building right behind us is the manager's apartment. Very near the entrance to this park. Just off a curvy highway. There is what I would call an over-flow site right next to us... with utilities on the wrong side and absolutely no yard or patio. So, I guess we are livin' large. ;-)
Here's how close we are to the entrance road...
When I mentioned the unusual arrangement to Joan, she said, "Look at the campground map - some of the pull-through sites actually front the highway."
I think there will be plenty to do around here to keep us busy for a few days. As far as the traffic noise coming and going from the park, it is hot and humid here in North Carolina - we'll have the a/c going pretty much non-stop. White noise. Refreshingly cool white noise.
;-)
