Get it wet...
Decisions: it is going to be windy today - do we launch the boat first thing this morning, or wait for a less windy day? Well, this is coastal south Texas - it is always windy... yeah, let's get the boat in the water!
Lines on the dock, put the stinger hitch extender on the back of the CR-V, hook up the trailer, and head for the ramp.
I drove to the ramp, backed the boat down the ramp, then Joan took over the CR-V while I got in the boat to back it off the trailer... we're a good team: she pulls the trailer out, brings it back to our driveway, and flushes it, while I bring the boat around.
Pulling away from the ramp and into the ICW...
That is our island on the left, mainland Port Isabel on the right. Moving west in the ICW...
Coming in the entrance canal...
On the right side of that image is dredge pipe that hasn't been removed since the dredging crew finished the project - only a year and a half longer than it was supposed to take. Making the turn at the end of that canal, more dredge equipment that hasn't been removed...
Yes, it is an eyesore, but at least it isn't blocking anyone from getting their boat in or out. Turning down our canal...
As I started to rotate, heading for our dock, this cute Blonde chick was there, ready to catch lines for me...
I remember how to drive a boat - seems like it has been a while, even though no longer than our usual winter getaway. Glad to have the boat back at our dock.
Mother Nature arranged for a couple windy days (25mph, gusting higher), so we won't be getting out until probably Sunday.
Getting the boat launched early today allowed us to haul the trailer back to our storage unit, then lunch in Harlingen. Now, we are settled back in.
:-)

Gonna give Rufus a try on the boat??
Years ago a friend of mine brought his cat out on his boat-- As we headed away from the dock the cat was so scared it jump overboard and swam to shore..
Yeah, we intend to see how Rufus does on the boat. On a calm day. Of course, that is kinda rare around here. (Wind blowing 25 - 29 here today)
