Sunday Morning Outing...

Last night, Joan said to me, "How 'bout I make cinnamon rolls in the morning and we have breakfast out on the boat?"

Let me think about that for a secon - yep!

It was already warm out this morning, and the house smelled good with the scent of fresh cinnamon rolls.  While Joan put together fruit to go with our rolls, I got the boat ready.  We shoved off before 8:30.

Turning east out of the canal, the plan was to go through the swingbridge, across the Laguna, and into the jetties area...

Just some of the boats waiting for their owners to arrive, at the dock at Sea Ranch Marina (they have stack storage there)...

Not a lot of small boats out, yet, but the excursion boats got an early start...

Looking east in the jetties area, the dredge McFarland...

The Terrel Tide (off shore supply vessel) coming in...

People fishing on the jetties...

An excursion boat with most of the passengers on the bow...

Looking over the jetties, up-island...

One shrimper towing another one in...

These folks were camping on the beach on the north side of Boca Chica (south of South Padre Island)...

Looking back towards the Gulf as we turned west...

Sight-seeing and breakfast, a relaxing cruise... of course, if dolphins do happen to appear, we're always willing to stop and enjoy their activity.  Our first view...

Look close in front of that dorsal fin on the left - yep, that is a cute baby face!

For the past several weeks, we have had the dolphins all to ourselves when we're out there.  Not like we're trying to - there just haven't been other boats, besides the fishing boats that are always blasting by...

Two excursion boats joined us for a while - got their "guarantee" in, some passenger squeals, then departed.  Back to the peace and quiet of just us, our idling motor, and the dolphins...

They were playing and swimming all around us again...

Great viewing, time to head for home...

The sun was getting pretty intense, and this angle didn't give us much shade from the bimini; I stood up to drive (shade); Joan found some shade up front...

This boy was one of many flying and diving nearby...

We were back to our dock before the hottest part of the day.  It is a great beach day for those coming from inland to take advantage of the cooler temps and sea breeze here on the coast.  We're not up for taking on the crowds and traffic - being out on the boat was nice.
