And now for something completely different...

The view.  We are at anchor at Blind Bay, one of our favorite anchorages in the San Juans.  After nearly 4 months with neighbors in close proximity, this is our closest neighbor...

That's about 200 yards away.  It's been months since we've been at anchor, and I appreciate how nice it is.  Don't get me wrong - we enjoyed being in the marina while working.  It's nice to have unlimited electricity and water, especially when you are on a schedule.  No schedules these days... it was nice to pull the throttle back and enjoy sipping one gallon per hour with that quiet Honda.

Along the way, we came across others who were more than willing to trade fuel for time...

Plenty of room all around us, but he had to get close, kicking a big-ass wake.  We were just discussing wake on the trailersailor forum a day or two ago... one guy said something to the effect of, "Powerboaters like the wake..."  No, not really.  But at our easy-going speed, it was simple enough to put a little power on and run out a ways so it didn't affect us.

Beautiful weather right now.  The view from our helm while underway...

Plenty of blue sky and comfortable water conditions.  After months of driving from a flybridge, I really appreciate my enclosed helm and comfortable ride... the view from up high was good, especially for avoiding debris in the water... oh, and looking for whales and other wildlife. ;-)  I am a happy boy at our helm...

We pulled into Blind Bay, expecting to see a lot of boats (nice weather on a weekend) at anchor... plenty of room here.  We motored to the back of the bay and set the anchor.  While Joan started some lunch, I laid down for a short nap.  This cold I am nursing kept us in the marina for an extra day, but I am on the mend.

Joan got ready for "game time" at the table...

And, little Izzy relaxed in the cockpit...

The sights, sounds, and sensations are different at anchor.  We both enjoy the movement of the boat as it swings.  Izzy kinda misses being able to look out the window and see the neighbors up close... and, she isn't so sure about this water everywhere around us.  She'll get back in the swing of things (yes, pun intended) soon enough.

And those neighbors - that boat is for sale...

I think it's going to take more than the bonus from our jobs to pick up that beauty.  The neighbors are out kayaking.  I mention to Joan that we might want to get the kayaks down, too...  "All in time.  You need to rest a bit more..."  And then she settled in for a nap.

I like this schedule.  :-)
