Off to a slow start...

Two trips today.  No whale reports to start the day, and we were one of the first boats out.  It turned out to be a very decent trip.  Second trip, we had a destination: Gooch Island, near Sidney, BC.  By the time we got there, it seemed like every boat in Canada had the same idea - LOTS of boats, all trying to get a look at 4 or 5 Transient Orcas.  And one complete dumbass in a private boat who ran right up on the whales... with all the other boats around them staying the legal distance away, you'd think they'd be able to figure out that they were doing something very wrong.

After work, we had a staff dinner at Vinny's, a very nice Italian restaurant (not to be confused with Cousin Vinny's, a hole-in-the-wall pizza place).  Everyone was there, and we all had a great time.  It was the opportunity for the boss couple to thank us and vice versa... and lots of good food and fun conversation.

It really has been a very good season; we have both enjoyed our time here.

And, our last work day tomorrow - Joan will be in the office all day, I have one trip.  I am hoping the Orcas will provide a nice wrap-up to my driving season here.

My thanks to all of you who have commented about our time here, whether on this blog or by private message or e-mail.  It will take a a few days to make the switch from liveaboards to cruisers again, and then who knows what we'll have for a data connection.
