No, I'm not bothering the neighbors with loud rock 'n roll music.
Our chartplotter has been "acting up" since we came to the San Juans. Not a really big deal because we have back-up for back-up with the iPad and our phones (all loaded with the Navionics app). The chartplotter was showing us in the correct place, but was wacko with the heading and our course. The last time we were out, we narrowed it down to the flux-gate compass as the likely culprit.
That device can be affected by metals or magnetic items placed too close. When I came back to the boat after getting fuel for the generator, Joan had the silverware drawer pulled out and everything moved away from that area. We made some changes for this trip, and the microwave, TV coax, and electrical wire are somewhat close. Oh, and my guitar.
Dohhhhhh! The guitar... and that magnetic pickup... we were storing it right next to that area.
Yep, the chartplotter is just fine now. Sure glad we didn't spend $100 per hour having an electronics tech come to the boat.
