Heading for the hippie bus...

Those who have been to Galiano Island, and more specifically, Montegue Harbour, know about "the bus" and the trip to the Hummingbird Pub.  More in a bit.

A nice easy trip to Montegue Harbour today...

Lunch while underway...

The weather is absolutely spectacular!  High in the 70s, clear blue sky, very light wind.  OK, maybe not great if you're sailing, but perfect for a slow, easy cruise on Wild Blue.  Not much boat traffic once we got out of the inlet leading into/out of Ganges.

I was surprised at how few boats were in Montegue Harbor.  We decided to stay at the marina there, making it easy to take the bus to the pub.  Those who have been here in the middle of summer may not recognize this place without it being full of anchored boats...

Wild Blue looked pretty lonely at this dock...

The inner docks were occupied; looked like mostly local boats...

We've not stayed at the marina before, but anchored in the harbour.  The folks here are friendly, the facilities a bit more rustic than Poet's Cove or even Ganges.  No potable water, but we came in with our fresh tank full - we're good.

We walked around a bit, then decided to head back to the boat for some kick back time.  Some games, then guitar time in the cockpit.  Joan put little Izzy out on the dock for a bit, but there were people coming and going from the outside dock... and Iz is sure they are all out to get her.  She was just fine in the cockpit with us.

We caught the bus to the Hummingbird Pub.  It's an old school bus, generally called "the hippie bus" by most folks.  The driver was blasting 60s music when we got aboard.  He has updated his schtick since we were here last: he now has a tambourine on the steering wheel, another by the mirror, a cymbal above, and a cowbell below... and he is pounding away in time with the music!  He handed out some other stuff for those of us riding along to play.  We knew what to expect, but it is still fun...

It's a long and winding road (I love song references!), and from first glance, you'd think he is being reckless... not so - I caught him checking his mirror every once in a while. ;-)

No wifi to be had at the marina, but there is here at the pub.  The food is decent, but the atmosphere and the bus ride make the experience.

No idea where the next stop will be.

Now I'm gonna have "Magic Bus" playing in my head all day!

Thanks for taking us along with you. Looks like the perfect time of year to be there.
