A change of karma...

We blame Steph when the weather turns bad any time she visits.  And by "any," I mean: every.  We used to take them out on our boats over the years, and rarely saw dolphins... I told her it was her bad karma.  The last couple times we went out (when we had Wild Blue here), we did see dolphins, and Steph got quite excited about it.

Today, she seemed pretty pumped up to get out on the boat and see:
1. Dolphins (doing anything)
2. Pelicans diving
3. She wanted to see those drilling ships up close

It had been a lovely morning: sunshine and climbing temperatures.  Getting into the 60s when we ran some errands and went out for a fine Italian meal (pizza and pasta) at Russo's.  On the way back home, the sky started getting gray... better hurry up and get that boat ready to go!

Heading out...

Steph took some photos of us on the boat, too...

You can tell a former professional shooter: horizontal and vertical!  ;-)

Yep, it had cooled down enough (into the upper 50s) that we were all glad we had jackets.  In reverse order: the drilling ships...

Pelicans diving...

And - dolphin sighting!

All within a half hour of leaving the dock.  We followed along with the dolphins.  A chance to wish our friend Scarlet (the dolphin whisperer) "Merry Christmas!"...

We were close enough that Dan got this shot (and many others) with his phone...

Look over Steph's shoulder...

Yep, dolphins.  It started drizzling very lightly; enough that we decided to call the trip a success and head into our canal and for home.  Steph and Dan got to see plenty of birds along the way, as well.

An hour or so after getting back to the dock, it was clear blue sky and sunny again.  No matter, we think the "bad karma" has been lifted.  :-)

This shot was also on my camera: from the power out time...

No, that wasn't a set-up... it was that cold in the house.  Well, for all of us who are used to warmer temps.
