Out of sync...

Or: the day after Christmas on Christmas Eve.

With Steph and Dan departing today, Christmas seems a bit anti-climatic.  Yes, I understand "the reason for the season," but the reason for me is to have our family together.  And it has truly been a wonderful, but quick, week.

After one more breakfast at Manuel's (Steph's favorite and Dan gets to take a jar of hot sauce home), it is back home, packing, then the drive to the airport.

We will get to see them again in a month or so; doesn't have to be a teary good-bye.  No matter the circumstances, it makes my heart hurt to say good-bye to our sweet girl.  And Dan, of course.

They got to have a couple days of nice weather... after Winter Storm Stephanie greeted them on their arrival.  After breakfast this morning, there was a little drizzle.  Again, of course.  Their plane leaves just after noon - I expect the sun to break through the clouds by 12:30.  ;-)

Since we were running ahead of schedule (?), Joan wanted to stop at the store on the way home (before taking them to the airport).  The grocery store... on Christmas Eve morning??  I dropped Joan and Steph at the door, Dan and I waited with the car.  No one had to walk in the drizzle.

Packing, packing, packing... and then, it is going to be a quiet Christmas Eve around our place.

Merry Christmas.  Again.

:-)

Jim and Joan, was just reading your Sept. 2009 blog posts on cruising the Trent/Severn, great stuff, so glad that you keep up this blog for us. Hope the "kids" have a safe trip to their second Christmas! Bob and Kyung Jarrard (C-Brats)

Hi Bob. Yep, we took the kids to the airport today. No fun saying good-bye, but we will see them again soon. The decorations are still up at the house, but it doesn't feel "Christmas-y" this afternoon.

For the record, we really enjoyed cruising the Trent-Severn Waterway! Two big thumbs up from us.

Merry Christmas to you and Kyung!
