We had breakfast in the boat, then went out exploring the area on our bikes. We rode around some of the residential areas... more interesting home architecture; lots of homes with separate garages, more like carriage houses. A quick shopping stop and then we headed for the Erie Canal bike path. This is more of what I expected the whole canal to be like... homes with nice yards on the water. Occasional little shops and food places.

Fairport is actually on the outskirts of Rochester; I think the canal will be more populated as we make our way west.
We stopped for lunch at a Mexican restaurant, then back on the bikes. We rode through a wetlands area, with a wooden boardwalk over the marsh. A beaver ran across Joan’s path. I think they stage that for the tourists.

By mid-afternoon, it was HOT. We stopped for an ice cream break, then rode back to the boat... and our wonderful air conditioning.
