Entertainment with your meal...

This morning, little Izzy was sitting on the back of the couch, with the light from the glass in our front door shining on her like a spotlight...

No, that has nothing to do with the title of this post - just a cute kitty.  Well, it was proof that there was some sunshine, after several days of rain.

We took the scoots over to the island for lunch.  In our driveway...

A few days ago, I mentioned the "angry villagers" regarding resurfacing our parking lot; here's the lot...

Might be hard to see in that smallish photo above, but it just looks like a big mud bog right now.  I'm sure these past few days of rain have set the completion date back further again.

It is sunny, but cool, in the Tropical Tip today.  Barely 70ยบ as we rode across the causeway.

Wind blowing 15 to 20 mph in a crosswind as we crossed the Laguna Madre.  Lunch was at Pier 19...

This is the place I mentioned a week or so ago that is built on what used to be a fishing pier.  This is the whole width of the interior...

Every table gets a window view...

Lunch was good, with an added surprise...

Live entertainment.  I don't know the singer/guitarists name, but he was good - nice fingerstyle playing and a very mellow voice.  When he quit at 1:00, he mentioned that he was here "from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and then would be playing at Marcello's (Italian Restaurant in Port Isabel) this evening."  That is a long day of playing and singing.  We will remember this for breakfast some time.  Nice to have some live music with your meal.

Outside Pier 19, we geared back up for a ride around South Padre Island...

You can see water still standing along the curb from all the rain we had the past few days.  Back across the causeway to Port Isabel...

We topped off fuel before heading home.  As always, Joan got better mileage than me: 104 miles per gallon for her bike, 99 mpg for mine.

"Queen Isabella"....does Izzy know she has a bridge named after her?

Yes, she does. The town, Port Isabel, was named after her, too. Who could have known all this so many years ago - that there would be this sweet cat in the future? Pretty amazing, huh?

Or, it could be that Joan had a name picked out when we went to the shelter... 6 years ago.
