Be prepared...

If you said, "The Boy Scout motto," you get 25 bonus points.

The weather weasels are predicting ugly weather for late this afternoon and into the night.  Ugly?  Well, it rained most of the night last night, but it wasn't a wind or hail event.  Here.  Less than 25 miles from here they had hail.  One of the young weather weasels called it, "Teacup size hail."  No, it wasn't in the size or shape of a teacup... he had to explain himself later, saying, "It was of a size that would be the same diameter as the base of a teacup."  Why not say, "Two inch size hail"?

For this evening, there are watches for: tornadoes, flash floods, severe thunderstorms; all covering the varies counties that comprise the Black Hills and areas around that.  "Watch," not warnings.  The "potential" exists.

Rather than leave our awnings exposed, when we got back from a late lunch of BBQ, we pulled in our slideouts.  The awnings over the slides go out automatically with the slides.  Our larger patio awning is in.  The coach is skinny for the evening.  We'll open everything up again tomorrow.

The sky is gray and ominous-looking right now.

-------------

A couple hours of rain now; some areas around us have received significant amounts of rain; here, it has been solid and steady.  A bit of clearing at the west horizon gave us this...

Looking at radar, I think we will soon be in the clear.  Still a flash flood watch for the county we are in - if there was more rain in the hills, it will be working its way downstream.  Still sporadic wind gusts and close enough to hear the thunder rumble.

That rainbow pic on your Sunday blog is fabulous! Enjoy following your travels {and Rufus} every day. We are in central Missouri so receive similar weather a few hours later. Lots of rain and thunder here yesterday and last night...now the heat is on!

Thanks, PSM. It turned out to be a wild weather evening around us - we just got heavy rain, but there was hail, flooding, and strong winds most directions around us. That looked to be a pretty solid line heading your direction.
