Curves, for the fun of it...

After the spotty showers this morning, it looked like we had a several hour window with only a 15% chance of precip.  No destination, let's just go ride through the twisties.

I got the bikes out, we geared up, and headed out; leaving Hart Ranch...

North on Hwy 16...

That is a steep hill to climb as we turn onto the highway.  On the south edge of Rapid City, we headed west...

We are heading towards Nemo Road - we haven't ridden the lower part of that since we've been here; time to remedy that.  Nice curves and pretty scenery...

We turned onto Norris Peak Road; more fun curves...

That road ends at Hwy 44 - the most direct way back would be to take 44 into Rapid City and then back to Hart Ranch.  We were both thinking the same thing: "Let's ride that same road back instead of taking the highway" (and, for the record, Hwy 44, also known as Rimrock Highway, is a good road, just not as many tight curves).  We did a U-turn and headed back the way we came...

We stopped in Rapid City for some frozen custard at Culver's.  Refreshing.  When we came out, the sky had turned black to the south; yeah, the direction we need to go to get back to the motorhome.

We hauled butt back and didn't get rained on.  First order of business: get the scoots back in their cargo trailer...

You could hear the thunder and smell the rain... it moved eastward, to the south of us.  I haven't heard how much rain they got in that area, but when we came inside, we saw that there is a flash flood watch for parts of Custer County... just what they don't need.  We saw that just 7 miles south of us, they got 3" of rain this afternoon.

We were able to get Rufus some leash time in the grass.  I got a haircut.  After a busy weekend in the resort, it is pretty quiet today.  Still plenty of people here, many on motorcycles; the families with kids have gone home after the weekend.

Time to kick back.
