Like a Sunday drive...

On a Monday.  Well, a holiday Monday.

Before going to Steph and Dan's for steak-day, Joan and I went for a scooter ride.  We didn't have a destination in mind, and knew we had less than 2 hours... we decided to go south, then west.  That took us through part of Estrella Ranch, then out towards the school where Steph and Dan used to teach, then through Buckeye.  Old Buckeye.  As in: old Arizona, which is way different from old Florida.  Different area than we've been through before.

Mostly, we were riding just to enjoy the ride.  It's a beautiful day: low 70s and sunny.  Just right for riding with a jacket on... in my case, a jacket designed to allow air to flow zippered vents... with the vents closed.

We passed other people on motorcycles who were out enjoying the day.  And by "passed," I mean going the opposite direction.  Our scoots are plenty peppy, but this was mostly two lane roads, and there wasn't anyone in front of us to be passed.

Every single rider waved at us (or waved back if I waved first).  I think it's the Vespa... the Vespa gets respect.  Maybe it looks like an old Harly FL from the front?  From a distance.  Joan thought it was because those out riding seemed to be riding for the same purpose as us: just for the pleasure of riding.

Yeah, it was a good day for that.

And now, off to the kids' place.  Yeah, they're too old to be called "kids"... and as we all age, they get closer to us in proportion.  ;-)

Supper was great: the steaks tasty, Steph made some au gratin potatoes that were yummy, and Joan brought a sour cream angelfood cake with strawberries and ice cream.  Plus, we enjoyed our time with them.

We were home in time to take Rufus out for a walk and some patio time; which makes for easy photo ops when I'm sitting right across from him.

And, the big boy giving Joan a kitty hug...
