Vendor Day, and old friends...

Today was Vendor Day at Happy Trails.

On South Padre Island, there is Market Days, where vendors set up in the Convention Center - you can buy all manner of t-shirts, jewelry, art, tools, etc, etc.  We always go, we rarely need anything.  There are about 100 vendors there, and it is interesting to walk through; some of the same vendors have been coming for years.  Today, it was a similar event here.

You may have heard that everything is bigger in Texas.  Not always so - we were told there would be around 500 vendors here today.  It started at 9:00; we took one scooter, since it isn't that far to the town center.  When we turned onto the main street, cars we parked blocks back from the town center...

With the scooter, we were able to find a small spot right at the opening to the parking lot...

A guy in a golf cart called out to us, "Nice to have something small, huh?"

Indeed.

Looks like the guy at the guard shack was right: this place is packed.  Vendors everywhere.  Selling all kinds of stuff...

Outdoors and in the event center...

Nothing particular we needed, but Joan found a photo holder that matches the colors in the new motorhome, and I bought a whole pair of socks.  But, it was fun to wander around and see all the stuff we didn't need.

The best part of the day: lunch with friends Mark and Cindy.  We haven't seen them for about 20 years, so there was a lot of catching up to do.  It may be a bit of a cliche' about picking right up with friends you haven't seen in a long time, but that was sure the way our get-together felt today.

I forgot my camera in the truck, but I will get photos the next time we get together... Mark and Cindy both look great.  Joan looks great.  And I was there, too.  Plenty of visiting over lunch - we met at 1:00, headed to the restaurant around 1:30... next thing I knew, it was almost 5 o'clock.  The time flew by.  If you are reading this, Mark and Cindy, thank you for a great visit!
