The 2/2/2 Rule... FINALLY!

The first shake-down trip started today: a short get-away to one of the first RV destinations where we felt welcome several decades ago... Laughlin.  200 miles away, but the first opportunity to go somewhere, riding together.

It doesn't matter whether you are going around the block or 200 miles - if you move the RV, you have to unhook all the utilities and put away anything you have out.

The first casuality was the transmitter for our weather station - it spent years strapped to the pin of the HitchHiker and never moved.  We put it in the wheel well of the new motorhome, and I forgot it was there while getting unhooked.  It made it almost to the front entrance of the resort.

It is a "desert drive" from Surprise (Phoenix) to Laughlin.  Not much in the way of civilization along the way: Wickenburg, Wikiup, and Kingman, but it is a reasonably pleasant drive, with desert scenery.

Not much traffic.

I know the question foremost on your mind: How did Izzy do in the new motorhome?

Thanks for asking.  It took her about 12 seconds to adapt.  Faster than I adapted.  She rode on the bed in back at first; Joan brought her up front with us...

She likes to be a "big girl," and check things out.  Joan set up her small tower... I was not in favor of using it while underway, but I was out-voted.

On the short tower...

Looking over my shoulder (Are you speeding?)...

You know she is settled in when she is grooming herself...

How about this spot?

That's the dash of the RV - "No, I don't think so, Izzy."

She is a great little traveler.

We stopped along the way so I could check out the rig and the stuff in the trailer...

All good.

After Kingman, you climb a pretty good incline, then come down about 4,500 to the valley where Laughlin is located...

Into the RV park, and time to get settled in.

Oh, and that 2/2/2 Rule: Don't travel more than 200 miles.  Get into the RV park by 2:00 in the afternoon.  Stay for at least two nights.  Seems like it has been a long time since we followed our own guideline.
