Everybody knows Dave...

He's famous.

Today was an errand day.  Back to the Container Store to return two items and pick up another.  Into the mall.  To Staples.  To Target.  Drop of some stuff at Steph and Dan's.  Then, back to the resort.  In between it all, we had lunch... I have been craving some good BBQ.  We picked up some gift cards for Famous Dave's at Christmas, when they had a good sale.  And this was our first chance to use one.

Oh, I know some will say that a chain restaurant can't compete with the good BBQ of guy smokin' meat out back... but we both like Famous Dave's.

In fact, one of our first photos with the scooters...

(file photo, 'cause we were in the car today)

I plan to change that whole "file photo" thing tomorrow, with an all-day outing planned on the scoots.  Somewhere.  Doesn't matter where.  I just wanna ride!

This afternoon, I rode down the street to visit with a couple who have the same RV model we just bought.  Well, theirs is a 2014.  I wanted to ask them a couple questions... the main one being: "What is this key for?"  We have a key that doesn't seem to fit anything on the RV.  Scouring through all the owners manuals (there are 3 thick books, plus the Ford manual) didn't turn up anything.

Steve (of Steve and Peggi) said, "Yes, I do know what that key is for - it only fits one storage door on the unit."  Well, on their unit.  Our 2015 has an updated latch on that door and the same key fits all the storage doors on ours.  But, we do have that extra key... I think they put it in there just to mess with us.

I did have a nice visit with that couple.  Like many of the folks in this park, they are from Washington State.  They love their Aspect - and told me what to really expect for mileage (about 10 mpg, towing; which is 2 mpg better than the salesman told us).  They also have a cat - we traded ideas about cat boxes and litter.  And where to put a waste basket.  And driving tips.  I'm looking forward to putting some miles on this rig.

It just hit me........... You guys will have to drive back to the tropical tip in separate vehicles! I'm guessing your mammoth truck is too big to tow. If Joan drives the Aspect she "may" take a wrong turn and you'll be sleeping in the truck!

Yes, Mark, the truck is beyond the towing capacity of the Aspect. We have a couple months to work it out, but we will likely be driving separate back to Texas. For the record, we drove separate for years when we towed a Corsair trimaran behind a 40' motorcoach... Joan drove our SUV as our "escort" vehicle, occasionally "making a hole" for me to switch lanes, etc.

The car that we leave with our daughter can be towed all four down; but we're not ready to be truck-less just yet. That may change.
