You must get really good gas mileage...

Still get plenty of comments about the scooters.

We took the scooters out for lunch... as we were putting our gear away, a couple came up to us and asked about the South Dakota plates (we are still official SD residents).  "You're really from South Dakota?  I don't think we've ever met anyone who was actually from South Dakota!"  They are full-time RVers... and lots of them use South Dakota as their state of residence.

They also asked the usual scooter questions: "Are they fun?  How fast will they go?  What kind of mileage do you get?"  (Yes, 65, 100+)

People seem stunned when we toss out that 100 mpg number.  Joan was quick to add, "I got 119 miles per gallon on the last fill."

Lunch was good, and we rode around some afterwards.  We stopped for fuel: Joan was just over 106 mpg, her typical.  This tank had some over 45 mph riding.  I was just over 102 mpg.  After her record-breaking 119 on the last tank, I thought she'd come in lower on this fill, due to not getting it quite full.  Nope.

We're planning to do a little shake-down with the RV, so we didn't want the scoots completely full when we loaded them in the trailer... no problem - we'll ride some more.  :-)

Coming back into the resort, the guard at the gate said, "You two must get really good gas mileage - you sure ride a lot."

"That's our entertainment.  Some people play golf, we ride.  Oh, and we get about 100 miles per gallon."

"That is incredible!"

"Yeah, we get that a lot."

Why SD Registrations?

It was our home for over 30 years. We wander a lot, so we continue to use SD. Lots of full-time RVers use SD because of favorable tax laws, insurance, etc.
