How do you dew?

This morning, when I stepped out of the RV to get ready to hit the road... everything was wet. Dew! We haven't seen dew for 2 1/2 months.

Yesterday, as we drove from the deserts of west Texas into the Hill country, the greenery became more abundant as we neared the Hill Country. Today, heading south from San Antonio, even more greenery, with trees and bushes on both sides of the road.

About an hour north of home, palm trees become more prominent...

Great shades of green all around. Besides being on the water, the thing I miss most about home when we are in the desert is... green. If it wasn't for the golf courses, you wouldn't see much green there. Down here, it's green year 'round. And flowers... there were the wild flowers along the road, and the cacti were blooming, pastel yellows, peach, and pink.

And the wind. It wouldn't be a road trip if we didn't have some headwind... and it blew right on the nose all the way today, with gusts above 25 mph. It hammered our fuel mileage (down to 7.7 mpg), but on our last fill-up, we paid less than $4 per gallon... not much less, $3.99.9. First time since early February that we've bought diesel below that $4 mark.

One other thing that we do that you don't have to deal with in the desert: check the tides. The swing bridge goes up and down with the tide, and it can be a problem getting the 5th wheel across that bridge if the tide is too low. +1.2 today at our arrival time - perfect.

We parked the 5th wheel across from the house and started the unloading process...

Hot, humid, and windy. Yep, we're home. ;-)
