City of murals...
A breeze start to the morning. We cleaned up, picked up around the boat, and shoved off. Our destination for the next couple days: Chemainus, on Vancouver Island.
Once outside of Bedwell Harbour, the wind was calm, and so was the water...
We ran around the west side of North Pender Island; south and west of Prevost Island; North between Salt Spring Island and Galliano Island, then hang a left. Not a lot of other boats out today...
The view from the stern...
Higher terrain as we headed towards Vancouver Island...
We called for a slip assignment when we were a half mile out from the City Docks at Chemainus. We were fortunate to get a slip on the other side of the marina from the ferry landing...
Wild Blue looks pretty small compared to that boat in front of us. This is a small marina, so "the other side" from the ferry is about 150 feet away from the ferry landing. Looking back from the landing above the marina, Wild Blue looks even smaller...
Harman, the harbormaster, checks us in and suggests we check out the new offering at the Chemainus Theatre. We get Wild Blue settled in, then head to town.
Chemainus was a logging/lumber town. When that industry waned, they took to painting murals on the sides of businesses to bring tourists to town. It must work - we're here. We had been here with Wild Blue 6 years ago, and enjoyed our stay.
One of the first things you come to is the small grocery store by the marina and ferry landing...
Yep, we are north. For some perspective, the Tropical Tip in Texas is at latitude 26, considered sub-tropical. You might think we were there - it topped 80º here today.
The first mural we came to...
It's a building painted on the side of a building. Then, a train...
On the way to Water Wheel Park...
Named for the water wheel...
We didn't plan to be here for the Wednesday Market (hadn't heard of it), but here we are...
We had a late lunch, then walked around town, checking out more murals...
The bottom one above is dedicated to the people who did the murals... the guy in the middle looks like Liberace to me... well, except for the plaid shirt. ;-)
More murals...
The one above was on the side of the theatre; we stopped in to buy tickets for tomorrow night's performance.
We stopped in the liquor store, grocery store, then a cookie stop at the Wednesday Market. It's getting to be late afternoon, and a warm walk back to the boat.

Isn't it great to have the ability to see how the rest of the world appears....I find it an blessing as it unfolds itself to us. Hope you are able to spend some time, when you journey south, to visit and swap stories!!!!!!!
excuse the "an" before the word "blessing"....sorry, it's the teacher part of me....
Hi Val. Don't you normally make those corrections in red?? ;-)
