Everyone knows it's windy...

While walking Izzy last night around sunset...

... we felt the wind come up.  I was guessing it around 20 mph.  The local weather weasel said 25.  It was enough that I went outside and picked up the mat we put out by the door... before it blew away.  By the time we went to bed, it was howling.  Enough so that Joan put the bedroom slideout in to prevent potential damage to the slideout awning.  At 12:30 am.

Surprisingly, we both went back to sleep after that.  This morning, that north wind had died off... and changed to out of the east.  Because, of course, we are heading east.  About 15 mph.  Designed to keep our fuel mileage under control... don't want to have it too high right off the bat, I guess.

I kept the speed down to around 60 mph today... and saw between 8 and 9 mpg.  Joan got 23 mpg with the truck.  The motorhome was working going up and down the hills in west Texas; the truck was loafing.

There is a reason for this speed limit...

About an hour out from our planned stop for the night, it started sprinkling.  Then came down with a steady rain...

On the bright side, I think it may have washed off some of the bug carcasses we splatted along the way.

About 10 minutes before we pulled off the Interstate, the rain stopped.  We are down for the night in a mobile home park that is "RV friendly."  It is quiet and reasonably blowing-dust free (unlike last night).  We put the jacks down, the slides out, plugged in to electricity and called it a day.  4/5/1... no, that isn't the date: 400 miles, down around 5:00, and we're just here for the night.

Izzy wanted to go for a walk...
