Oh, deer!

Out on the scoots again (hey, it's why we're here); another hot, windy day.  The plan: re-run a couple of the roads we really enjoy.  Leaving Hart Ranch...

We had been on Neck Yoke Road for less than a minute when...

That is a baby Bambi.  For some perspective, he was close - those were taken with a wide angle lens.  Not a bright baby, he ran almost across the road, froze, turned and ran back, then stopped again, before running into the trees.  I didn't see Momma anywhere nearby.  He's lucky we were alert and hauled the scoots down pronto.  Big spots on his back - I'm guessing a couple months old at most.

Back to the ride...

Love these roads!  We took the one that runs along the route of the 1880 train...

Some effects on the shot above.  Hey, look - there's the train...

Back to the riding, and the views...

We aren't the only ones out there on two wheels...

There are some great trails here (rails to trails) that are good for mountain biking.  Not quite the same on the roads, but we all enjoy our recreation our own way.

We stopped in Hill City for a light lunch.  Joan had packed our new "hot weather gear": it is a towel that you wet, and when you snap it, it cools off.  Yes, it works - felt great in the 95º heat and gusty wind.  Heading out of Hill City, another train...

Part of the 1880 Train complex here; this one looks a bit spiffier than the one we saw with a load of tourists today.

Back to the curves (and the road is good, too)...

Passing that RV park on this back road, I couldn't help but think, "Those are really close to the road!"

Heading for home...

A fun way to spend a warm day.  Yes, Rufus did get some patio time when we got home... but, while we were setting up a screen room, he pulled a "Houdini" and got himself out of his new harness.  Yes, the harness we bought because he was able to get out of the other harnesses.  He doesn't run off.  I think we may have scared him with moving that screen room around.  He's good.
