While much of network TV is reruns this time of year, I'm talking about "re-riding" some favorite roads again. Today, it was off to Sturgis for lunch via Rimrock Highway, Norris Peak Rd, Nemo Rd, Vanocker Canyon Rd, and into Sturgis.
Leaving Hart Ranch...
Out onto Highway 16, heading into Rapid City...
We made our turn at Johnson Siding to get on Norris Peak Road...
Nemo Road...
And into Vanocker Canyon...
It is a tough call for which road I like better on the scoots: Vanocker Canyon or Iron Mountain Road (near Mt Rushmore) - both are great riding. Vanocker has more wide, sweeping turns, Iron Mountain Road has the famous Pigtail Bridges and road splits. But, today, it is mostly about Vanocker Canyon...
Into Sturgis and lunch at the Loud American Roadhouse...
Then, back the same way we got here...
Just starting to see some fall colors on this route...
Nice riding weather, not too much for crowds.
If you want to "ride along," here's an 11 minute video of today's trip (wind noise deleted, canned music added)...
