Let it ride...

Joan found us a casino to stay at on our way south, thanks to our AllStays app.  I called ahead to make sure they had RV parking... "Yes.  There are no hookups.  Sunday through Thursday, it is free; Friday and Saturday, the charge is $10."

We decided to check it out.

It was a foggy start to the day when we left La Push...

The fog would come and go, depending on how close we were to the coast.  It's gone...

It's back...

The casino is at Ocean Shores, operated by the Quinault Tribe.  It is right on the beach... no idea what to expect for RV parking.

Only 120 miles, most of it twisty Highway 101.  The Aspect is pleasant driving, and we weren't trying to set any land speed records.

We pulled into the casino property just before lunch time; saw this sign on the way in...

Bigfoot Crossing.  We'll keep an eye out for that.

We drove through the RV parking - a gravel lot, with sites marked off... no hookups, just a place to put it down for the night.  Well, and a restaurant, and perhaps some gaming.

I parked the motorhome and went in to register.  A very nice young lady at the desk took our license number, gave me a pass, and said, "Enjoy your stay."

"Do I owe you anything?" I asked.

"Nope.  Just a note: the sites are not held for you.  If you pull out for an afternoon trip, there is no 'saving' of sites - just pick another.  If you don't want to walk from your RV, call this number and a free shuttle will pick you up right at your site."

No problem - we plan to park it and check out the restaurant and casino.  The casino property looks very nice and modern...

The RV parking is several blocks away from the building...

That photo above makes it look like they are close together.  We had more space than the last two nights - and WAY more space than the two nights before that...

And, the price is right.  Little Izzy came out of her "nest" to see where we are...

It was 62º and light fog when we walked from the motorhome to the casino.  First order of business: lunch.  The restaurant in the casino is nice - not a lot of variety, but the prices are reasonable.  And: no vampires.

After lunch, we walked through the gaming area.  There was only one blackjack table open (slow day, I guess) and the two women playing there were both smoking.  I'll pass.  A couple other tables were open, but not the usual card games.  We tried to find some video poker machines... nope.  When I asked a security guard about that, he said, "There are two of them in the bar."  Turns out, they were at the bar.  I'll pass again.  Joan sat down at a slot for a while, I watched.  She played on their money - I came out $5 ahead on the "free play" they gave us when we signed up for their players card.  On the bright side: I won't be making much of a "donation" here.

Walking back to the coach, the sun was starting to make an appearance... mid-afternoon.  Yes, the casino and hotel are just steps from the beach; the RV parking is a couple hundred steps further.  The walk feels good.

We are self-contained, so the dry-camping is no problem.  We can turn on the inverter or fire up the generator for any electrical needs.
