First boat outing...
... in a while. No, yesterday didn't count - all I did was bring the boat around. Today, I got to take my Honey out on the boat. After she got back from an early run to the store... Easter weekend, and there will be scads of people in the store, on the road, and heading to the beach.
And, we need to do this before the wind really pipes up; by noon it will be blowing over 20 mph. Well, that's what the weasels are predicting... so, it probably won't.
Out our canal, into the ICW, heading for the turning basin. The twin drilling ships are still there, other drilling platforms are gone...
A shrimper heading in; nice that they will be in for the Easter holiday...
A fuel barge, I am assuming off-loading for the Sub-Sea 7 pier...
Not far from that, Joan spotted the first dolphin...
A couple of them seemed to be feeding by the pier; we kept our distance...
Great to see them - I missed this. Moving on, one moved ahead of us for a bit...
A bait shrimper heading in...
Sparkly water...
Looking east towards South Padre Island...
The wind is building, but you can still find protected water...
We saw a couple other dolphins in the ship channel, but this ass-hat ran right over the top of them...
Isn't like he didn't see them - he turned to run right at them. I don't understand that kind of behavior.
This fellow flew over...
Heading back in, we saw 4 pontoons coming towards us in the PI Channel - looks like they are heading out for some dolphin watching. Back in the turning basin, a head-on view of the drilling ships...
More bird watching on the way back to our dock...
We were out for a couple hours. Looking at the fuel gauge, we used about a gallon and a half. A bit less wind would be nice, but we timed our outing for that. Nice to be back.
