Let's go surfing now...

If you said, "The Beach Boys, Surfin' Safari, 1962," you get 50 bonus points.

Heading out on the boat this morning around 8:00.  Nice morning, warm and humid, not windy.  Going into the turning basin...

That supply boat on the right is Terrel Tide, loaded up and heading out.

In the ship channel, the water temp is 81.9º...

And that is close to the air temperature right now.

Jim at the helm...

A silhouette of a couple pelicans on a daymark...

Watching Terrel Tide head out to the Gulf, South Padre Island in the background...

With the sun low to the horizon, it makes for some nice light...

The plan was to go down the ship channel to the jetties area.  That plan changes as things come up.  This is what came up...

Coming right at us...

In a few seconds, we had dolphins swimming between the bows of the boat!

We watched for a while, then saw the next supply vessel, St Louis, coming by...

I picked up the pace to see if any dolphins would be bow surfing...

Yep.  We slowed down again, watching more dolphins...

My favorite shot of the day above.

Here comes another supply vessel, Ram Country...

Yep, more bow surfing.

Into the jetties area, this Coast Guard boat was heading out...

And, this little one heading in...

This guy flew by...

Heading back in the ship channel: yep, some more dolphins...

A shrimper heading out...

Ridley, one of the boats run by the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley...

With the sun getting higher, it is important to stay covered...

Or, stretch out and relax...

Back into our canals, we saw the dredge workers here again...

Hopefully, they are removing the dredge pipes that have been "stored" here for months.  On the bright side: they aren't blocking egress.

Rufus was happy to see us.  OK, Rufus is always happy to see us.  ;-)
