Fire On South Mountain.

Yeah, no joke.  That said, it was just reported on the 9:00 News...

And, by 9:30, the media was saying the Phoenix FD was getting it under control.  Doing a bit of digging, I found that the fire is on the north side of South Mountain (same as us), and is about 8 miles east of our location.  The mountain tapers down in that area, so this fire isn't happening anywhere high enough that we can see it.

South Mountain is not forested - some brushy desert plants, saguaro cacti, and the like.  Much of the mountain is a Park and Preserve run by the City of Phoenix.

It has been 156 days since there has been any measurable precipitation in the Phoenix area.

Update: the fire is out.  It burned about an acre.  Phoenix Fire Department, aided by a Phoenix Police Department helicopter (to provide light) quickly got the fire under control, then put out.
