Happy Easter...

Joan saw that the casino that is just a few miles from us was offering an Easter Buffet Brunch.  Steph and Dan joined us.  The buffet wasn't extensive, but it was nice... plenty of offerings, and the food was good.  And, it wasn't packed.

We've never been in this casino before, so we didn't know what to expect.  Not huge, but very nice.  After eating, Joan suggested we "walk around to see what all they have" for gaming.  That is code for: let's do a bit of gambling.  Since Lent is officially over, and I wasn't giving up anything anyway, we looked.  And sat to play for a while.

I got a text from Joan, asking "Where are you?"  That's a sign that she's done.  Win or lose.  I texted back my general location and a few minutes later, Steph and Dan came by, and then Joan.  Finally tally: Dan came out ahead; enough so that he gave Steph back what she had lost and still had some winnings.  Joan considered what she was down to be a "donation to the tribe."  I was down a grand total of $6.  A small price for some "entertainment."

Before leaving, they wanted to go check out the Bingo room... I was surprised by how big it is, and how full it was.  The rest of the casino was very lightly populated on this holiday Sunday, but I think the Bingo session was sold out.  I believe Steph and Joan may have made some plans... we haven't played Bingo since before Covid hit (the Community Bingo place we used to go to was a casualty of Covid).

I let myself "splurge" on some of the dessert offerings at the buffet.  It has been a while since I've had real (not sugar-free) chocolate.  Now, I need a nap.

We had a sedate Easter Sunday. Most everything around here in Mormon land was closed. I ate at home, instead of going out for lunch like most days. Alice rested up from her grueling concert and rehearsal schedule -- spring concert #1 was Friday night, with #2 this coming Saturday. We got a six mile recumbent bike ride on while it was still 60° and sunny. Today is almost 70° so I will be playing guitar on the back porch swing once Alice leaves for tonight's band rehearsal. So many flutes....

"So many flutes??" Are we talking about the number of flutes in Alice's concert group, or the number of flutes Alice owns? Kettle. LOL

She has more flutes than I have guitars. And more dollars involved too. Specialty flutes make guitars look cheap. She plays four flutes regularly (but not all at once). Piccolo, standard flute, bass flute, contrabass flute. Depending on the concert or rehearsal there are times she needs to take all four. She got into flute as a kid because it was light and portable, and inexpensive. As an adult pursuing specialty flutes it has not worked out that way.

Right now she is playing her "spare" contrabass because her primary one is in the shop for annual tune up. I get to drive over to Seattle to pick them up when done, part of the life of a flute caddy. The tech adjusts them perfectly but those adjustments don't always survive the shipping process, so he prefers they be picked up. I also get to visit an elderly friend as part of that trip.
