Fire On The Mountain...

... lightning in the air.

If you said, "Marshall Tucker Band, 1975, from their album Searchin' for a Rainbow," you get 15 bonus points.

If you said "Wait! What?  There's a fire?" - no bonus points.  Yes, there are actually 4 brush fires just past the southwest foothills of South Mountain.  The temperature is 115º and the wind is at 9 out of the SSE.  We are a bit northeast of where the fire is.  Fortunately for us, that means the smoke is blowing just barely west of us...

The photos above are from our courtyard.  The fire isn't on the mountain, but I needed a song title.  The fire is just beyond the mountain.

I play that song all the time with bluegrass jam and with my R&R jam friends.

We had a break in WX and got a couple of days of rain last week, so that knocked out the worst of our fires and made the air much clearer. Then it went back to 91° on Sunday, but cooler again. Sorry about your heat wave.

Happy to hear Mother Nature cut you some slack, Earl. The weather weasels keep moving the "below 100º for a high" date further back. When we got back from our Grand Canyon trip, it was supposed to be "3 or 4 days"... then, a week... now, 4 days later, looks like it will be at least 10 days out before we get a break from the triple digit high temps. No break for weather records - this area is breaking them each day. Anxiously anticipating that "break."
