More van tasks. Joan had the hard part, but comes with being "the organizer"... she went through a bunch of bins that came from the Aspect to see what we'd have room for in the Roadtrek. Spoiler Alert: it isn't all going to fit in there, so decisions have to be made. I was consulted on some of those decisions, but I am "the keeper" and she is "the tosser." Her goal today is to get things sorted and put away. It is a challenge, because you have to think outside the box... or outside the storage cabinet or drawer might be more accurate. Just because something fit under the sink in the Aspect, doesn't mean it is going to fit there in the Roadtrek. The logical place for silverware may not be where it fits. It means learning: a new place for everything, and everything in its place.
It only got to 91º or so today, so Joan was comfortable in the van with the exhaust fan running and the awning out; she didn't feel the need for air conditioning.
And, what were you doing while Joan was toiling away? Lounging around, eating bon-bons? No, but thanks for asking... and I'm not really sure what a bon-bon is... but, it does sound like something you should eat while lounging. I had the way less fun task of sorting through the stack of instruction booklets and owners manuals from the myriad of manufacturers for all the stuff Roadtrek puts in these Class B campervans. And every item has a serial number and a different warranty. I went through all of those and took care of warranty registrations online.
RVs are different from cars and trucks when it comes to warranties. If something breaks down on your Ford during the warranty period, you can take it to any Ford dealer. Each appliance and doo-dad in the motorhome is a separate item - you have to deal with that manufacturer for any warrant issue. And that means separate registrations for the air conditioner, the tankless water heater, the furnace, the powered vent fan, the fridge, the microwave, the TV, etc, etc. It takes time. And the eyesight to read fine print. And type in all those serial numbers. The Roadtrek warranty is separate from the RAM vehicle warranty. And, from each individual appliance warranty. If something goes wrong with the TV, that isn't on Roadtrek... they warrant what they built, not each individual item they put into it. So, now that all that stuff is registered, I guess this compact motorhome is ours.
We each get one overhead compartment for our personal items. We will share one small wardrobe closet. We went through this when we replaced the HitchHiker 5th wheel with the Aspect. The HitchHiker was residential feeling, with ample indoor and outdoor storage. It was a definite downsize when going with the Aspect. This move to the Roadtrek is even more so. But, that will be part of the adventure.
The plan is to get out for a few days next week. No decisions on where or when, but it will likely be within an easy half-day drive and to an RV park that has full hookups so we can test out the rest of the stuff in and on the Roadtrek.

In other news, we have been home about 2 1/2 weeks. That time has flown by with all the things RV related we've been dealing with. Yesterday late afternoon and early this morning, Joan has been getting things out to put our yard decor out. This is just part of it...
That is just part of what will go into our yard - there are a bunch of plants (in pots) that got moved to Steph and Dan's yard so they could water them while we were gone. Those will all need to get moved. At some point. The yard was looking pretty naked until last night (when I shot the above photo). There will be plenty of plants, colorful outdoor decor, and lights when she is done.
