Not playing poker with some guy named Chimney; today, we visited Chimney Bluffs State Park.
We drove up here last week, but the rain was pounding - we didn't get past the parking lot. The opposite today: clear sky, temps in the 70s, and a 0% chance of precip!
There is a parking fee for the park...
$5 - seems like a good deal considering how pretty this place is. We checked out the info...
Then, walked down the paved path, opening to a view of Lake Ontario...
Looking towards the bluffs...
There is a path that goes to the bluffs; we decided to hike it...
There was a little mud as we started... which soon turned into mostly mud...
The path wound close to the cliff...
Watch your footing! A muddy bog to cross, with log pieces put in their to try to keep hikers out of the mud...
More mud. We decided to cut our hike short when I was nearly up to my ankles in the muck. So close. A file photo of Chimney Bluffs (when the lake level was lower)...
Back through the mud...
A couple selfies on the way back...
And, back to the park area...
We drug our feet through the grass on the way back to the car, getting most of the mud off. It was good exercise, and some nice views today. On the way back to the coach, we stopped in Wolcott (where the campground is located) to check out Wolcott Falls...
A bit less work for this - about 15 steps from the car to a nice view angle of the falls.
