Oh, the horror!

We left our "up-scale" RV resort in Alexandria Bay, New York, heading for Burlington, Vermont.  Back roads most of the way, it was a day of good roads and very light traffic - pleasant driving.  Rolling through New York, wooded roads...

This doesn't qualify as "heavy traffic"...

Stone fences...

The roads were in good shape.  I enjoyed the views and the road signs.  Tetris?

Driverless cars are coming; apparently, New York already has riderless bikes...

There was some discussion about how to pronounce this "H" name (English, Spanish, French?)...

Nice views of the St. Lawrence River on this part of the drive...

The first road construction of the day...

A very short delay, and we aren't on a schedule.  Plenty of nice picnic areas on this stretch, too...

Rolling further northeast, plenty of green fields... but lots of standing water...

Our first view of Lake Champlain, from the New York side...

One bridge to pass, and we are in Vermont...

OK, more road construction, then we are in Vermont...

If understated is what they were going for with that state sign, they nailed it.  More pretty scenery in this new state (for us)...

Looking at the GPS, we are really close to Canada (just on the other side of that solid black line)...

A swing bridge on the lake...

Rolling by a river...

Passing through the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge...

More wooded roads and rolling hills...

The two GPSes and the navigator didn't agree on how to get to the North Shore Park Campground - the routing took us down narrow streets, sketchy neighborhoods, and increasing traffic.  The campground is located in a city park... and is the epitome of what I don't like in a campground: crowded, tiny sites, smokey fires, crappy interior roads, and parking on grass and mud.  Swell.

On the bright side, we are here for two nights, so we can do some local touring.  Think I'm kidding?

Tent sites across the road from us, all with campfires smokin' it up.  In the middle of the afternoon, and for no particular reason...

Solid with trees, no chance of a satellite signal (but, we can get a few channels on the powered antenna).

I guess I should be happy: the site next to us has a tree right where their parking should be; can't imagine anything bigger than this small pop-up could fit in there...

We got the coach set up, then decided to look around the town.  Joan wanted to go to the waterfront, and it is quite pretty...

We decided to go out for supper (Izzy was taken care of before we left).  Along the way, we passed a bike shop that had a sign in the window advertising electric bikes - I pulled in to see if they might have a new brake lever for my wounded e-bike... um, no, but they had a lever for the other side (they are not interchangeable), and the bike tech thought he could cut the wires on my bike and splice that in.  We decided to leave the bike with him (they were about ready to close) and check with them in the morning to see if he was able to come up with a solution.

Out for supper - a fine meal and no smoke.  On the way back thought town, another nice view...

Back to the campground, and lots of smoke.  I took Izzy for a short walk - the neighbors close on our driver's side had a guest pull in, and they were speaking French to each other.  Apparently, French is a scary language, and Izzy wanted to go back inside.

This park is a beach park, and according to the site map (which is confusing and not remotely to scale), not far from our campsite.  Joan and I took a short walk.  Yep, there it is...

Yes, there is a beach.  Not many people there this evening, but I would imagine it is hopping with locals on the weekends.  The views looking towards the mountains on the far side of Lake Champlain are quite striking...

Back into the coach; windows closed, a/c on.
