No schedule, no destination...

After a nice breakfast and some guitar time, we decided to take a cruise... in the morning... because it is supposed to be hot and humid this afternoon.

Heading out the canals, we came across something different...

The kayak is set up with an electric trolling type motor and was tooling along about 3 knots.  Looks to be a good fishing set-up, too.

We weren't on a "dolphin quest" today, just looking to be out on the water.  We weren't the only ones...

Fishing and working.  Excursion boats and head-boats getting people out on the water.  A great day for it.

As we got close to where the Laguna Madre and the Brownsville Ship Channel come together, Joan said, "There's a dolphin ahead!"

Yep...

Well, we're here... it isn't like we're avoiding the dolphins... let's hang out and see what they're up to.

Not as active or curious as some days - looks like they are feeding.  And, when the bellies are full...

We continued on into the jetties area - more pipeline construction equipment here...

Plenty of people fishing on the jetties...

Oh, and dolphins... the boys are back in town!

Back into the Laguna, and... more dolphins!

This dolphin with the partially missing dorsal fin was particularly active today...

He wasn't the only one...

With the boat in neutral, this guy swam right up to us, checking out Joan from just under the surface...

These photos aren't the end of our tale (or theirs)...

On the way home, we checked out the pelicans...

It was getting warm - for grins, we ran the boat up to 15 knots... well, for grins and some breeze.  Four trips out since we put the boat back in the water, averaging about 2 1/2 hours each outing... and used just under 5 gallons of fuel; making our fuel burn around a half gallon per hour.  Or, about $11 in fuel used.  The salt air breeze, the views, and the dolphin experiences... priceless!

:-)
