Nature Walk...

I looked out at the canal a few times today.  If the dredge pipe was below the water, it didn't stay there long... the wind piped up and we thought better of trying to get the boat out.

After a late lunch, we went to the Nature Walk at the South Padre Island Convention Center.  The Wyland Whaling Wall has been freshened up...

There are walkways that go out over the swampy stuff for a nice view of the Laguna Madre.

The vegetation has grown up quite a bit - there didn't used to be any greenery that rose above the lower part of the walkway.  Good for the critters that make this their home, not so good for wide open views.  We walked out...

Kayakers and kite-surfers out enjoying the day...

Nice walk.  The water was that pretty shade of blue-green; clear enough that you could see the fish swimming around in the shallows.  In years past, we used to see an alligator or two in this area - not for quite a few years now.
