What was I thinking?

My apologies.  It has been a while since I featured a photo of Rufus here.  Allow me to correct that...

Joan took that this afternoon while the big furry boy was sitting on my lap.  What's that?  No, I did not crop myself out of the photo - this is the way Joan shot it.  You can see who gets all the attention around here.  But that's OK... he's a good boy.

A fine looking lad - and a very good boy [drink]. I harbor no illusions over who would be chosen if it came down to me or Duke. I'm rather fond of living indoors, so I behave.

Alice flies to PHX tomorrow for a quick visit with her mom as she starts her PT again. So I get to wrangle both cats solo for three days. They are slowly starting to tolerate each other looking through windows or the baby gate, but are nowhere near meeting face to face without adult supervision. I hope to survive it all.....

Do I need to do a "wellness check" on you each day while Alice is gone? ;-)

Nice thought, but I should be fine. Besides, Alice will be checking on me routinely to make sure that her new baby boy is still OK. On the Simpsons, Marge is a subscriber to "Fretful Mother" magazine, and that leads us to numerous jokes here recently.

Duke is an able and very crafty escape artist who got past me this morning while I was still sleepy. He surprised Lucy who was (unbeknownst to me) following me down the hall, and we had another episode of the "yowl & hiss" show at 6:30 am, fortunately with no physical contact. I did not need my caffeine this morning.

At some point, the "yowl & hiss show" is entertainment for them. No physical contact is a good thing. I wouldn't be surprised if Duke said to Lucy: "Follow my lead this morning - let's have some fun with the big guy!"

Even good boys like to have some fun. ;-)

Duke really wants to meet her, and she gets bored when she cannot be outside most of the day. The problem is that he is a really "in your face" kinda guy with a strong approach. She interprets that as an attack and reacts accordingly, and so the show begins. But we are making progress. They will both be desperate for my attention over the next three days with only half of the normal staff, so they might work something out. And yes, they are both devious and will probably join forces to manipulate me. They are both ALL CAT.

On the bright side: you won't be looking for something to keep you busy while Alice is away. ;-) Keep us posted.
