I love a parade!

The lighted boat parade here tonight!  I have been enjoying it for the past 20 years; have been in it with our sailboats and Wild Blue.  But, tonight, we are watching the parade go by.

We took our scoots to the swing-bridge - the parade forms up on our side of the bridge, then it moves on to the Pirates Landing area, then across the Laguna Madre by the causeway, and up the small boat channel along South Padre Island, with the judging happening at Jim's Pier.

In years past, the parade was put on by the Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce, but it had dwindled due to lack of participating boats and a couple weather cancellations.  It is now organized by the South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, and it is building back up again.  There were at least 20 boats (maybe more) tonight.

We met friends Mike and MJ at the bridge, and they were with friends from Iowa.  We visited for a while before the parade got underway.

On with the photos...

One boat set off fireworks right over our bridge!

A fun viewing!
