I decided to take the e-bike out for a jaunt this morning. There was 30 seconds of sunshine as I headed for the bike... it didn't last long. Still, it is a lovely day: mostly cloudy, high in the mid-70s (71º when I rode around for an hour or so), building breeze.
Leaving our street...
I rode around our island for a bit, then decided to head across our bridge and into Port Isabel. First time with the GoPro on the e-bike. A bit of a bumpy ride across the bridge...
I also tried another feature with this camera: voice command. Kinda reminds me of telling Rufus what to do - successful about half the time. ;-) On the flip side, Rufus's battery lasts a lot longer, and he's so darn good looking.
Riding around PI...
The old Yacht Club...
It was quite a place in its day. In the Prohibition era of the 1920s, it was a speak-easy. It wasn't originally called The Yacht Club, it was instead, known as "The Pearl of Isabel." Drinking and gambling were encouraged at the club. That tower on the top was used as a look-out, in case of a raid.
Over the decades, the Yacht Club lost its luster. It was still a restaurant and hotel when we first came here, but has been closed now for quite some time. A new owner bought the property in February of this year - I'm hoping they will do something with it. I haven't seen any evidence from the outside.
The property in front of the Yacht Club that fronted the city basin was sold off for townhome development over a decade ago... so, no water frontage for this once glorious building.

Local legend says it is haunted. It is certainly colorful. And, on the list of Historic Texas Cemeteries.
Further into town, then south and back across our bridge...
And back into our village...
