Click it...

If you said, "From a public service campaign to get people to wear their seatbelts: 'Click it - or ticket'," you get 10 bonus points.  Nothing to do with seatbelts... well, it is automotive related.  The battery disconnect we ordered came in yesterday, and I went to the van this morning to get it installed.

The process went reasonably well, other than it took me a while to get the lid to the battery compartment  (under the driver's feet) open - there are 5 fasteners that hold it shut, and one is under the center console, meaning you have to contort yourself to get into that narrow spot.  Once that was off, it was just a matter of attaching the unit and making connections... with a quick dash back to the house to grab a socket set - one seriously tight nut on the positive connection.

With everything hooked up, the big test: click the remote to "on," and the dash lit it.  The van started like it should, and the extending steps worked properly.  The radio came back on with our settings in it.  So now when the van is in storage, this should eliminate the phantom power draw on the chassis battery.  Bonus benefit: when parking the van, we can hit the remote, making it harder for anyone who might try to steal it.
